Yesterday while I was at Kroger I saw that the Glade scented oil tins where marked down to $1.79. Remembered about the $1.50/1 being in some of the apple cinnamon tins. Use the $1.50/1 in the tin and get these for $.29 each (originally about $3.49).

So I bought a couple of these.

Walgreens Beginners Guide

Using coupons at Walgreens can be a little more tedious. Just as CVS when you purchase certain items they will produce coupons at the end of your transaction. Instead of Extracare Bucks or ECBs(CVS coupons) these are called Register Rewards or RR. Though unlike CVS most of the cashiers will not lower your RR in order to match your total (or at least I have not had any luck). Also, you cannot used the same coupon on the same item that generated the first RR to begin with.

For example:
If you bought 1 Schick Razor at %8.99 and you get a $5 RR back. You cannot use that RR again to buy another razor. Well you could, BUT, another one will not print.

You have to roll your RR a little bit different. Another thing you have to watch for is making sure your items bought do not exceed your manufacturer coupons used (Walgreens coupons are excluded here).

For example:
Lets say you bought the following:

3 - Boxes of band aids (Produces $8RR wyb 3)
2 - toothbrushes (Produces $5RR wyb 2)
1 - Bag of Potato Chips (Produces $1RR wyb 1)

You use 5 Manufacturer coupons with a $$ off 1 item each (Tip: If the coupon is for $$ off 2 then the coupon covers 2 items not one in this case)

There is a total of 6 items and we will just say the total of these items were $15. You have 3 - $5 RR coupons. Though you cannot use these coupons because you already have 6 items and 5 coupons. You could use one though.

In order to use more RR in this transaction you would have to add more items. We call these "filler" items. Filler items are really cheap items which allow for you to bump up your total a little or allow for you to use more RR.

Back to the scenario. 5 manufacturer coupons for 5 of the 6 items you bought. You have 3 -$5 RR you want to use. I would find something in the store that you can buy cheap in order to use the other 2 RR because right now you can only use 1.

So you find pencils for 3/$1 or $39 each. If you buy two of these and you do not use a manufacturer coupon then you could use the other two RR.

1 - Bag of Potato Chips
2 - Pencils
total of 8 items

8-5 = 3 more coupons can be used. So you can used the 3 - $5 RR.

Total $15 +.39 (pencil) + .39 (pencil) = $15.78 -$15RR = $.78 before tax. Then your $8RR, $5RR and $1 RR would print out after you have paid. That is how it is done. Though Walgreens can be a little more of a pain after you get the hang of it, it is not so bad. I would always suggest going to another store and getting the hang of couponing and the rules before doing it at Walgreens. Though if you can do the Walgreens couponing well you are all set.

Kroger Deals

Glade Holiday Candles are on sale I have seen the jar candles for $1.34 and $1.71 a piece. If you have coupons this is the prefect time to stock up. They have the holiday art on the front that is why they are in on the holiday sale.

Also air wick I-Motions are on sale for $4.49. If you have the $5 coupon for these it will make it FREE.

Kroger Trip 1-02-10

I bought 16 Glade Jar Candles, 4 Scented Oil Candle w/Candle Holder and 4 Pk Scented Oil Refills. I also bought 1 Dawn Direct Foam.

I got 25 items for $14.50 b/f tax. That is $.58 a candle. I like these candles and for .58 each after my calculations after coupons I went on and stocked up.

My total savings were $63.45 after Kroger card and coupons. Giving me a savings of 81%. You can not beat that. These always make excellent gifts.
